SPRING, Texas – A 23-year-old man was arrested after he was accused of smashing the foot of a 3-year-old girl with the door of a truck Saturday in north Harris county, according to the court documents.
Coltin Sligh is charged with injury to a child and felon in possession of a handgun. He is being held without bond.
According to an affidavit from the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 Office, the victim’s mother said that Sligh threaten to shoot himself while at their residence in the 4400 block of Chestergate Drive.
The woman said that Sligh was intoxicated and continued to drink alcohol, while he pointed a gun at his head.
The woman was able to convince Sligh to put the gun away, but shortly after, heard him playing with the firearm again in the next room, the affidavit states. She then got up and started packing her things and getting her daughter ready so they could leave out of fear for their safety.
The woman then heard a gunshot from the next room and ran to see what happened, the affidavit states. Sligh had not shot himself, but began arguing with the woman for her wanting to leave. He told her that he would kill himself if she left.
The victim’s mother grabbed the child and her things and proceeded to head out to her truck, the affidavit states. Sligh followed the woman to her vehicle.
She started to get in the truck with her daughter asleep in her arms, when Sligh slammed the vehicle’s door. The child’s foot was caught in the door, and she woke up screaming in pain. Sligh then slammed the door again on the girl’s foot before the woman was able to drive away.
Sligh has been convicted of multiple felonies recently, so he is not allowed to possess a firearm anywhere, including his residence.
