HOUSTON – A Spring High School assistant principal who is accused of having sex with a student appeared in court Wednesday.
A judge warned Mark West, 30, to stay away from the alleged victim or face 180 days in jail.
West is charged with an improper relationship with a student. Prosecutors said he had sex with a student in his office during a prom event.
West resigned last Friday, but his lawyer said he is innocent.
“I can tell you this, speaking with his family, looking at his background as an educator, he is innocent and he cares about the kids. That’s it,” Charles Johnson, Jr. said.
West was released on bond and will be back in court on April 18.
