HOUSTON – Spring Branch ISD police have charged the assistant band director at Stratford High School with having an improper relationship with a band member.
School officials say Michelle Strickland, 23, was fired in April for violating the district’s social media policy and was arrested Wednesday. She is accused of having sex with an 18-year-old student.
“I think they were both infatuated with each other,” said Spring Branch ISD Police Chief Chuck Brawner.
School officials learned of the alleged affair after someone sent the principal an anonymous email.
Police said they then discovered suggestive texts between the teacher and student.
Investigators said the pair would have sexual encounters inside a band storage room in the school.
The student said he had sexual intercourse with the teacher over spring break at his house. He told investigators that the spring break incident was the only time when they had sexual intercourse and the other instances in the band hall involved oral sex.
Strickand was out of jail on a $10,000 bond.
