HOUSTON – A Richmond woman was arrested Thursday morning after she robbed a Valero store of several cases of beer, police said.

Police said Valerie Dixon, 44, walked into the store located at 207 Highway 90A shortly before 5 a.m. and approached the back counter where the clerk was standing.  Dixon held what appeared to be a weapon against the clerk’s back and told the clerk to go into the back room, police said.

Instead, the clerk went to the register area and started to call the police, and Dixon allegedly grabbed three cases of beer and left the store.  Then after placing the beer in her vehicle, she came back into the store and grabbed three more cases of beer before fleeing, investigators said.

A Richmond police officer found Dixon’s vehicle near the scene and was able to pull her over.  The officer said as he was speaking to Dixon she grabbed a beer from the backseat of her vehicle and began to drink it.

Dixon was arrested and charged with robbery, a 2nd degree felony.  She was transported to the Fort Bend County Jail where she was waiting for bond to be set.
