HOUSTON – Houston police have arrested a man they said fatally shot a woman and wounded her boyfriend during an attempted robbery in northeast Houston last summer.
Jacob Brown is charged with capital murder.
Police said on June 27, Titisha Denise Williams had just finished working the night shift at St. Luke’s Hospital and drove to the 7300 block of Curry to pick up her boyfriend shortly before 1 a.m.
While the couple was sitting in the car, two suspects wearing bandanas and dark clothing approached them and demanded money. The suspects then opened fire.
Williams, who was only 22 years old, was shot twice and died at the scene. Her boyfriend, 33-year-old Damon McClain, was also struck and rushed to Ben Taub Hospital. He survived his injuries.
Williams and McClain were planning to get married.
An extensive investigation led to Brown being identified as one of the suspects. When charges were filed against him on January 7, he was already in the Harris County Jail on unrelated robbery charges.
