Police release sketch of suspect in fatal shooting of woman near school

HOUSTON—Houston police homicide investigators have released a composite sketch of the suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a woman near Emerson Elementary School in southwest Houston.

It happened at 3400 Rockyridge at about 3:20 p.m. on Jan. 21.

Merlyn Yolibeth Perez-Orellana, 24, of Houston, was walking north along the sidewalk at the above address when an unknown man approached and shot her multiple times, police said. The man was last seen running west on Pagewood from Rockyridge. 

The man got into what is believed to be a gold-colored mid-sized sport utility vehicle. 

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
