HOUSTON—Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man who was abandoned Sunday after a couple of men flagged down an ambulance in southwest Houston.
It happened around 4:40 p.m. at 3600 South Interstate Highway 610 West.
Police said two men in a black sport utilty vehicle flagged down a Galveston EMS ambulance. When the ambulance pulled over, the men pulled in behind the vehicle and then pulled the victim from the backseat of the car and placed him in the grass.
As the EMS team assisted the victim, the other men got back into the vehicle and fled, police said.
The victim, who is described as 16 to 20 years of age, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
His identity has not been released.
