HOUSTON – A pair of violent robbers have struck three times in the Greenspoint area, and now investigators are worried that someone’s going to end up dead.
On Wednesday night, a tearful mother named Sylvia looked at photos of two men who Houston police detectives believe robbed her daughter and son-in-law 13 days ago.
She said her daughter identified one of the men. She said she easily spotted him because of his long hair.
Because the men are still on the run she didn’t want to give us her last name, but said one of the men shot her son-in-law in the stomach after he gave up his wallet.
He is in critical condition in the Texas Medical Center and his wife has been by his side ever since he arrived.
The pictures of the two suspects came from surveillance video taken at a gas station and store located at Ella and Rankin. HPD said it is where the suspects used the stolen credit cards to buy gas and other items.
“These men have no heart,” Sylvia said.
The men were driving a light colored Grand Marquis and perhaps a small dark green Mazda
The robbery occurred on May 2 in an apartment complex parking lot located in the 16,000 block of Cotillion. The very next night the men came back and robbed someone else, police said.
A security guard at the complex heard the victim screaming and tried to help, but said the criminals started shooting at him.
One week later, just two miles away, police said the same suspects robbed a couple in a park located in the 500 block of Greens. The robbers shot the man in the shoulder.
HPD Detective Vicente Gonzales is investigating this case and said the thieves tried to shoot the victim in the head too, but the gun misfired.
The surveillance video of the suspects is very clear. HPD detectives said the two men likely live or visit the Greenspoint area often.
They hope someone will call Crime Stoppers before the two men strike again.
