LEAGUE CITY, Texas – A husband has been charged after police found his wife dead in their home in League City Saturday afternoon.

According to the League City Police Department, they received a call for service from an off-duty police around 2 p.m.

The off-duty officer said he was at his home when he was approached by the husband, Felipe Alberto Fernandez, 48, who said something was wrong with his wife.

The officer was unable to obtain any other information from Fernandez as he was not being responsive to his questions.

“Initially, we weren’t sure what kind of call this was, because we weren’t getting the information out of that male that we needed,” Officer Reagan Pena, League City Police, said.

Once patrol officers arrived, they found the husband’s wife, Katrina Gonzales, 32, dead inside their home in the 800 block of Driftwood.

“Still absorbing everything, trying to figure to what happened,” Bobby Breeden, a neighbor, said.

Other neighbors told KHOU 11 News the pair may have been having marital problems and the wife recently threatened to leave. They apparently have two small children.

Fernandez is charged with murder and bond is set at $150,000.
