HOUSTON – Precinct 4 constables have arrested a 27-year-old Colombian national who they say is responsible for hundreds of burglaries in the Houston area.

They believe the suspect is part of a Colombian gang that specifically targeted Indian and other ethnic homes in the area. He's been accused of burglarizing 93 homes in Precinct 4.

But according to authorities, the 27-year-old and his fellow gang members may have also burglarized ethnic homes in other areas.

Montgomery County officials say the same individual may be responsible for 15 cases in their area and Harris County believes he was involved in 100 home robberies in their area.

The arrest comes after Montgomery County Sheriff's investigators noticed a trend in a string of burglaries that occurred in The Woodlands in the last five months.

"The common thread between these crimes is that the victims have all been of Indian descent," said Lt. Dan Norris of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

There will be a press conference later tonight where authorities will release more details on the suspect and the crimes.

They say the gang has been allegedly breaking into Indian and Pakistani homes since 2007.
