HOUSTON—There must be something extra in the sandwiches at a north Houston Subway. Police said three customers who were robbed at gunpoint in the sub shop chased a trio of robbery suspects along the North Freeway, ultimately leading to the suspects’ arrests. It all started around 9 p.m. Tuesday. Investigators said the three suspects first held up a clerk at the Days Inn off FM 1960 near Imperial Valley. They took cash and drove off. The men then apparently drove to the Subway restaurant in the 10200 block of the North Freeway. Police said the gunmen robbed the business and the customers eating inside. Police said the suspects got the money and drove off – but this time, they weren’t alone. Three of the customers who were robbed jumped in their vehicle, followed the suspects and called 911 to report the hold-up, police said. That allowed officers to locate the getaway car. Police eventually tracked down the suspects at Snowden and Wayside. The driver lost control of the suspects’ car and crashed into a ditch. Police said all three men jumped out, but officers caught them a short time later.
