HOUSTON—Police were investigating if carjacking was the motive in a shooting early Wednesday morning.

It happened around 1 a.m. at Breton Ridge and Ardfield.

Witnesses told police they heard two men arguing, and one of them yelled, "Get out of the car! Get out of the car!"

Then, the witnesses heard two gunshots.

Police said the victim, who was driving a Cadillac, was struck with spray from shot gun shell pellets and taken to Ben Taub in stable condition.

The suspect’s first shot went through the passenger’s side window, investigators said.

The victim stepped on the gas and tried to drive away, but he ended up crashing into a truck.

As he got out of the car, police said the suspect shot the victim again.

The suspect escaped the scene on foot, police said.
