HOUSTON - A Houston man faces a charge of endangering a child after police said he broke out the windows of a family member’s car with children inside vehicle, according Harris County Pct. 3 Constable’s office.
Luis Ortiz faces a charge of endangering a child, according to a police affidavit.
On Thursday, authorities responded to a call of criminal mischief at the 900 block of Hollywood Street in the eastern part of the city. When they arrived, police said found a woman who explained that she had gone to a residence at the 14000 block of Texarkana in Harris County to pick up three children from a family member.
While the woman was loading the children into the vehicle, she said Ortiz arrived at the residence and began breaking all six of the car’s windows with a chain, according to the affidavit.
Two of the three children were in the back seat of the car during the incident and had shattered glass in their hair and clothing, police said.
North Channel EMS was called to the scene to help tend to the children and remove pieces of glass from their hair and clothing, police said.
