Police: Child falls out of car seat during confrontation

PASADENA, Texas – A 27-year-old man is accused of injuring an child after the girl fell out of a car seat during an argument with the baby’s mother, police said.

Sergio Tellez, of Pasadena, is charged with injury to a child, Harris County court records state.

According to an affidavit from the Pasadena Police Department, Tellez was arguing with a woman on Jan. 31 in a parking lot in the 2900 block of Burke Road when the alleged incident occurred. The woman said that the confrontation became physical, and she ran to a neighbor’s apartment to call 911.

She then saw Tellez walking downstairs carrying the infant in a car seat. The mother ran up to him and told Tellez not to take the child.

The mother said the Tellez then pushed her, and at the same time, the child fell out of the car seat onto the pavement.

The child suffered swelling and an abrasion on her forehead, police said. Bail has been set at $10,000.
