HOUSTON – Two men pretending to be police officers terrorized a Houston family Tuesday morning.
Juana Perez told police she had just returned to the home in the 13000 block of River Keg after dropping her older children off at school.
Two men confronted her, flashed badges and said they had to search the home.
They forced her inside where they tied up Perez and her husband.
For four hours, the robbers repeatedly demanded cash. When the husband told them he didn’t have any money, they roughed him up.
Two children, ages 3 and 6, were home at the time, but they weren’t tied up. The mother said they were scared and crying throughout the ordeal.
The suspects left with a computer, television, car keys and other items before leaving in a black, two-door sedan.
Perez said they have been robbed before.
"I am afraid. I’m nervous with fear because I think they’ll come back," Perez said in Spanish.
Her neighbors are also nervous after hearing about the robbery.
"This is a really nice neighborhood, you wouldn’t expect nothing like that to happen in this neighborhood," a woman named Tamara said. She didn’t want to give her last name.
Police are hoping surveillance video will help identify the suspects.
