HOUSTON—Pasadena police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man who has been breaking into cars.
The video shows the suspect in basketball shorts and a T-shirt looking into cars. He then opens them and rummages through the vehicles.
“This neighbor come out and his vehicle had been broken into and he he just looked over to check on theirs, and theirs been broken into also,” said Wendell Keiler, a victim.
They didn’t take much from the brand new Ford F-150.
“Sunglasses, some type of carrying case he had,” said Keiler.
The family is just worried that things could get worse.
“We have a special-needs baby that we have, so we have to be especially careful with our things,” said Keiler.
Police said the same man rummaged through at least three cars in Barkridge Estates and Burkshire Community, often finding cars with unlocked doors.
“Nothing was broken, windows weren’t broken or anything like that. It was just that things have been rifled through,” said Steve Traxler, a neighbor.
Residents think their neighborhood is just an easy target.
“You look around, looks like a good area to hit, because non of the cars are old,” said Traxler. “If I caught someone doing it, I would shoot someone, it’s that simple.”
People who saw the video said the man doesn’t look familiar to them.
“There aren’t a whole lot of teenage kids in this neighborhood, mostly old folks like me,” Bucky Bishop, a neighbor.
Officer Vance Mitchell with the Pasadena Police Department said the suspect is different.
“It’s an unusual video, I think. Normally when you see these videos, they’re looking over the shoulders to see if someone is watching them,” he said.
In the meantime, Pasadena police are asking you to lock your vehicles and don’t leave valuables behind.
