PASADENA, Texas — A police standoff lasted four hours Monday morning after a 25-year-old man was accused of holding his parents at knifepoint in their Pasadena home.

According to the Pasadena Police Department, a 911 call was made around 5:15 a.m. reporting a disturbance at a home on Olive Green Court.

Police said the son initially held his parents hostage with a knife, but he later let them go.

Family members told police the man may have not been taking his medication.

Police said the man wasn't armed with any guns, but the knife was enough to keep officers away from the home. Patrol cars lined the street in what is normally a quiet Pasadena neighborhood.

The man walked out of the home and turned himself over to authorities just after 9 a.m.
