MONTGOMERY COUNTY—A two-alarm fire destroyed a small town mayor’s home in Montgomery County on Tuesday.

Officials said around 6 p.m., they received a call about a house fire on Roman Forest and Chariot.

That home belonged to Mayor Floyd Jackson, who is serving his second term as mayor of Roman Forest.

Officials said they arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the home and within minutes, fire was shooting through the roof.

No one was home at the time.

Officials said the fire appeared to have started in the kitchen, but further investigation will continue at daybreak.

Roman Forest has a population of about 4,000 citizens.
