HOUSTON -– A Houston officer and a driver he pulled over both suffered minor injuries when someone hit their vehicles from behind, police said early Monday.
The incident happened on the North Freeway near Airline Drive around 1:45 a.m., according to officers with the Houston Police Department.
An oncoming Chevrolet Tahoe crossed the line and struck the officer’s stopped cruiser. Police said the officer was out of his vehicle after pulling over a driver on the freeway. The cruiser then struck the officer and the stopped driver’s vehicle.
The male driver in the Tahoe was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
The officer and the other driver were sent to the hospital to get checked out.
All outbound lanes of the freeway were closed for about two hours while Houston police investigated.
