HOUSTON – Haverstock Hills Apartments were dubbed the most dangerous real estate in Harris County, according to the district attorney’s office.
It has been three years since a major crackdown on the war on gangs in the complex.
“You couldn’t walk around the family courts without running into somebody who was handling an aggravated assault or a murder where someone had been shot in Haverstock ,” said prosecutor Bill Exley.
Now residents say the area is safer.
"It then got real quiet – real, real, real quiet,” said resident Joe Lyons.
More than three dozen members of the Blood and Crips gangs were ordered to stay away from the complex.
“I can see a difference,” said anti-gang counselor Reginald Gordon. “I can feel it in the air.”
