HOUSTON -- A rash of thefts in a northwest Harris County subdivision has residents concerned.

The Forest Woods subdivision residents said there’s been a huge jump in crime in the past several months.  The crimes have affected the entire neighborhood.

Earl DeFields said he has seen it firsthand.

“I come out one morning looking for my car and it was gone,” he said. “My neighbor walked by and said they got hit at the same time.”

A week later, a woman interrupted an attempt to steal the wheels of her truck right in her driveway.

Another woman said thieve s broke into her house.

“They broke into my house through this window right here. They broke it,” Luis Cepeda said.

Another woman said thieves broke into her home while she was inside.

Residents said they are providing their own security, but they’re looking for help from the Harris County Sheriff’s Department.
