BELLAIRE -- There continues to be an outpouring of grief in Bellaire for the police officer and bystander who were gunned down on Monday.
Harlem Harold Lewis, 21, is accused of murdering 24-year Bellaire police veteran Cpl. Jimmie Norman and Terry Taylor, who was the long-time owner of the Macco Body Shop on Bellaire Boulevard.
It started Monday with a chase. The fallen officer tried to pull Lewis over. Lewis crashed into the Maaco dumpster, and then opened fire on Norman and Taylor. Both men were killed.
KHOU 11 News spoke to Shamika Hudson, the gunman’s girlfriend, on Tuesday. She’s pregnant and hasn’t been able to see her boyfriend who is in jail facing murder charges.
Memorials have been set up at the Bellaire Police Department and at the Macco Body Shop.
