CORSICANA, Texas -- Navarro College in Corsicana has been locked down after a student was shot near the campus.

Spokeswoman Donna Parish told The Associated Press that the shooting happened off campus Tuesday night and the unidentified student was life-flighted to a hospital. She didn’t know where nor did she have the student’s condition.

Parish said the school, located about 52 miles south of Dallas, activated its emergency alert system around 8 p.m. after the suspects fled in a vehicle. School officials were worried the suspects might have entered back onto the campus. Authorities were continuing to search for them.

She had no reports of any other injuries. A call to Corsicana police was not immediately returned.
