HOUSTON – A passerby found the body of a missing Crosby-area woman Friday along a rural road outside of Beaumont in Jefferson County.
Family members reported Kimberly Grant, 51, missing on April 21 to Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Homicide Department released a sketch of the victim in an effort to obtain her identity. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Missing Persons Unit received the sketch and matched it to Grant’s case.
Deputies are now trying to determine what happened to Grant. Investigators said she died of a gunshot wound and that it is likely that she knew her killer.
Grant does not have any children and her family is in Louisiana. She moved to Crosby seven years ago with her husband, and had lived alone since his death five years ago.
Her missing car was found in the Houston area Wednesday.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 409-835-8734 or Beaumont’s Crime Stoppers at 409-833-TIPS.
