HOUSTON -- The brother of a man who committed suicide also killed himself after sneaking past officers at the scene Wednesday night, Houston police said.

Officers with the Houston Police Department said they were initially called to a mobile home in the 3800 block of Almeda-Genoa Road around 8:45 p.m.

They found a man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators said it appeared the man shot himself in the parking lot after an argument with his girlfriend.

While police were looking over the scene, the man’s brother managed to sneak past officers and retrieve a gun from within the mobile home, and that’s when the second suicide occurred.

“The brother came to the scene, slipped by officers unnoticed in the crowd, proceeded to his room and grabbed a gun of his own and committed suicide,” said Nathan Rosenblatt with HPD.

Police said they heard the shots just moments after seeing the man in the mobile home.
