HOUSTON -- Deputies released surveillance video of a suspect in the shooting of a northwest Harris County man who was attacked as he mowed his lawn last Friday.

The shooting happened at about 8:15 a.m. in the 1000 block of Progreso at Pleasanton. The victim said two men pulled up in an gray Chevrolet Malibu or Impala and one got out the passenger side and demanded money at gunpoint. He refused to hand over his wallet.

The gunman shot the victim, who is in his 50s, before taking off.  The victim said the bullet “scraped” his stomach. He said he jumped back as the gunman fired the shot.

A neighbor, who witnessed the crime, chased the criminals at high speeds attempting to get a license plate number, but the robbers had paper tags and were moving fast.

The victim was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening wound, deputies said. He has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.

Investigators believe the suspect may be responsible for other aggravated robberies in north Harris County.

Anyone with information about the suspects’ identity in this case and/or location is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS or to submit a tip via the iWatchHarrisCounty phone app.
