HOUSTON – A man on his way to a weekend camping trip was shot during an attempted robbery in a Wal-Mart parking lot in northeast Harris County.
It happened at the Wal-Mart located on North Sam Houston Parkway East at Mesa on Friday.
Police said around 10:45 p.m., the man drove to the store in an attempt to buy camping supplies.
As he was sitting in his truck, a man approached him and demanded money. The alleged robber then shot the camper once in the stomach. The victim was transported to Ben Taub in serious, but stable condition.
The shooting was captured on Wal-Mart surveillance cameras.
