HOUSTON – A man faces several charges after leading police on a car chase Friday night in south Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police said that at about 10 p.m. a blue Chevrolet Impala struck the side of a brown car at Almeda-Genoa Road and Highway 288.

The driver of the brown car called police after the accident. When police arrived, the driver pointed out that the Impala was leaving the scene of the accident. The officer tried to pull the Impala over, but the driver took off heading west on Almeda Genoa and continued south on the Buffalo Speedway.

During the chase, the Impala drove through several yards, but did not hit anything, police said. Police were able to stop the driver of the Impala and took him into custody. The driver now faces charges including DWI, hit-and-run and felony evading.
