HARRIS COUNTY – Authorities have identified the 43-year-old man who was shot and killed during an altercation with Harris County Sheriff’s deputies Sunday in west Harris County.
HSCO said Monday that Kemal Yazar died Sunday at St. Catherine’s Hospital after he was shot multiple times by deputies after a physical struggle.
On Sunday, Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia said Cy-Fair EMS was called just before noon to a residence in the 20400 block of Shiloh Mist Lane after a woman said her husband, Yarar, was acting irrationally.
When EMS arrived, the husband became confrontational and violent. Sheriff’s deputies were called in for support, Garcia said.
Two deputies arrived at the home shortly after and engaged Yazar, Garcia said.
The sheriff said the deputies tried to subdue the man with their Tasers, but the devices had no effect on the man. The deputies then opened fire on the man, Garcia said.
Deputy Brady Pullen was sent to Memorial Hermann Hospital after suffering a concussion, cuts and bruises from the altercation, Garcia said.
He was later released Sunday, according to a HCSO official.
