HOUSTON – A homeowner was injured when three masked intruders broke into his house late Monday night in northeast Houston, according to police.

The Houston Police Department said that at about 11:30 p.m. the man was home with his wife when they heard a loud thump at the front door. They heard a second thump and then a foot broke through the door.

Three men with handguns and ski masks crawled through the hole in the door, police said. One of the intruders ran to the back of the house and the homeowner followed him.

But before he could catch the intruder, a second suspect pistol-whipped him in the head, police said. The suspects then fled the scene. It is unclear if anything was taken from the home. The homeowner was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
