A man faces an intoxicated manslaughter charge after an accident left a female teen dead early Sunday southeast Houston, police said.

HOUSTON – A 19-year-old man faces an intoxicated manslaughter charge after an accident left a female teen dead early Sunday southeast Houston, police said.

According to the Houston Police Department, Filiberto Vega, is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the one-vehicle accident that left a 17-year-old female passenger dead.

Investigators said Vega and his passenger were heading east in the 8100 block of Swiftwater Lane just after midnight when he lost control of his red Chevrolet Silverado pickup.

The truck skidded sideway off the side of the road, hitting a brick mailbox and landing in a cement culvert on the other side of the street, police said.

Police said the female passenger died at the scene. Vega was arrested and then he was transported to Ben Taub Hospital to be evaluated.

He was then arrested at the hospital.
