HOUSTON—A Houston man charged with raping his girlfriend was also accused of choking the woman’s cat, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Christopher Joseph Hunt, 22, was charged with sexual assault.
A deputy was dispatched to a disturbance call at a home on September 1. He arrived to find an emotionally distraught woman with a number of visible bruises. She had injuries on her face and neck, a laceration and bruise to the arm, a bite mark on the arm and numerous bruises to her thighs and hips.
The woman said her boyfriend of six months, Hunt, was her attacker.
One day earlier, the couple got into an argument after Hunt grabbed and choked the cat, according to investigators. When his girlfriend objected to what he was doing, he grabbed and began to choke her.
The next morning when the girlfriend tried to leave the home, Hunt allegedly grabbed her by the throat again, pushed her to the ground, choked her and ripped off her clothing. He then raped her.
After Hunt left the home, the victim called for help.
She was transported to Southeast Memorial Hermann Hospital where a sexual assault examination was performed.
A warrant was then issued for Hunt’s arrest. No bond has been given.
