TEXAS CITY, Texas — Police made an arrest in the case of a man who was held up by a pistol-packing robber wearing a witch’s mask.
On Oct. 29, a 52-year-old man was asleep in his recreation vehicle parked in the 100 block of 29th Street North when he felt the RV rocking back and forth. When he opened the door, a man wearing a red T-shirt and the spooky Halloween mask was waiting for him holding a semi-automatic pistol.
After the robber demanded the man turn over his money, he smacked the victim upside his head, breaking his hearing aid. That’s when the man fought back and wrestled with the would-be robber before pulling off the mask, police said.
The robber ran off.
Police recently obtained an aggravated robbery warrant for Tony Lawrence McWilliams, 27.
On Tuesday, a patrol officer pulled over a car driven by McWilliams, and he was arrested before being sent to the Galveston County Jail. He was being held on a $250,000 bond but won’t be released because of a possible parole violation, police said.
