GALVESTON — A birthday party was interrupted by a guest who was accused of trying to attack others with a machete early Thursday in Galveston, authorities said.
Javier Aragon, 26, is charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, stemming from the 1 a.m. incident in the 1100 block of 46th Street, Galveston police Lt. Michael Gray said.
Police spoke with a woman who accused Aragon of trying to strike a number of people at the party with a machete, Gray said
“The man got into an argument, went to his vehicle, retrieved a machete and began swinging it at people,” Gray said. “They were able to use chairs to deflect blows of the machete, and the group gathered en masse enough to scare him.”
