MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas—A marijuana growing operation was found inside the home of a man who shot and killed his neighbor Thursday, according to Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies.

Jaime Ryan Devita, 33, was charged with murder.

Deputies said Devita shot and killed his neighbor, 51-year-old Marcus “Dale” Fisher, after confronting Fisher outside of a home in the 16900 block of West Hammon around 5 p.m.

Fisher was visiting with friends when Devita approached him in the street, began arguing, then shot him once in the chest.

Witnesses told deputies that Devita’s wife and children had been seen just before the shooting, but had disappeared. When deputies entered Devita’s home, they found the wife hiding with the children, ages and 2 and 4.

They also found an in-door pot growing operation and several guns within the children’s reach.

April Nicole Devita, 30, was arrested and taken to jail for endangering a child. The children were released to Children’s Protective Services.
