HOUSTON – A Liberty County woman was arrested and charged with endangering a child in connection with the death of her granddaughter.

Liberty County sheriff’s deputies arrested Rebekah Dowdy early Tuesday morning.  

Dowdy’s 18-month-old granddaughter Harlee Dowdy was found dead on August 14th  2012.   Dowdy’s 18-year-old stepson Jack Hollis was charged with injury to a child in connection with the child's death. 

According to investigators, Hollis is mentally disabled and Dowdy left the baby in an unsafe situation.  

Dowdy was being held on no bond until a judge can hear her case.
