HOUSTON – Police have released the identity of the young couple whose baby was tucked away safely underneath a bed before they were murdered in their north Houston apartment Wednesday evening.

The mother and father, Anthony Contreras and Elizabeth Mayorga, suffered gunshot wounds to the head and were pronounced dead at the scene. They were both 18 years old.

Mayorga’s uncle, 36-year-old Cesar Enriquez, also suffered a gunshot wound to the head. He was clinging to life when police arrived and transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Enriquez’s coworker went to his apartment in the 1300 block of Greens Parkway that evening to check on him after he did not show up for work. Finding the door open, the coworker went inside, saw blood on the walls of the bedroom and immediately called 911.

HPD patrol officers responded to the scene and found Enriquez, Mayorga and Contreras in the bedroom. They also found the couple’s 5-month-old girl hidden underneath the bed.

The baby appeared unharmed, but was transported to an area hospital as a precaution before being released to family members.

At this time, there is no known motive nor suspect(s).

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
