HOUSTON (AP) - A former government worker in Houston convicted in a passports scam has been sentenced to more than three years in federal prison.

Investigators say 52-year-old Nyle Churchwell of Houston provided legal documents to people who offered fake paperwork.

Churchwell was a passport office adjudications manager at the Mickey Leland Federal Building before his 2012 arrest and indefinite suspension. He was convicted in January of two counts of making false statements in the application and use of a passport.

Churchwell was sentenced last week to 42 months behind bars.
