HOUSTON – A Houston mother was busted for shoplifting at a grocery store Monday while her two young children were sitting in a car running in the parking lot, according to Houston police.
Jennifer Michelle Claus, 29, was charged with felony theft and endangering a child.
Police said Claus left her kids, ages 5 and 7, in a running car while she tried to steal several items out of a Randall’s in the 9600 block of Westheimer. A store employee saw what she was doing and escorted her to the office.
After being confined in the office for a while, the mother confessed that she had two small kids outside.
Claus was booked into the Harris County Jail.
She has prior convictions for one misdemeanor theft and two felonies for forgery and possession of a controlled substance.
