HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - Crime Stoppers and investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office are searching for a serial gas station robber.
Most recently, the Valero located on the 3700 block of Addicks Clodine was robbed.
A female victim reported that at approximately 11:50 p.m., an unidentified man entered the store and approached the service counter wielding a handgun. The suspect demanded money from the register. The victim complied, and surrendered the contents of the store’s register. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.
“Oh my God, I don’t know how I can say. I’m nervous. We prepare over here too,” she said.
“How do you prepare?” KHOU 11 News Reporter Malini Basu asked.
“We have a guns too, I can show you, I have guns over here,” said Aysha Rizvi, a Texaco Gas station owner.
Investigators believe that the man was also responsible for a robbery at the same location in late September of 2013.
Authorities also believe the same man made his way to gas stations in west Houston.
Across the way is the Valero located on the 17000 block of West Little York. The gas station was robbed in October.
Harris County deputies said the man robbed at least six gas stations in the last month alone. In all, investigators believe the same man is responsible for 12 robberies since August.
“He’s making threats. He hasn’t carried it out yet, he’s unpredictable,” said Detective Russell Gray, with the West Side Robbery Division.
Investigators in the county said the robber acts alone.
“He’s very calm when he walks in the store. Appears that he has done this many times,” said Sgt. M. Alvarado.
Investigators said the man’s modus operandi is that he walks in wearing shades, a baseball cap and carrying a backpack. He pretends to buy something. Then moments later, clerks are staring down the barrel of a gun.
“Really if I saw it, I would comply and try not die,” said Janero Hogan, a chef at a local gas station.
