SPRING, Texas – Four suspects were arrested Saturday evening after an incident in the parking lot of a shooting range in northeast Harris County, according to the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office.
Lt. David Escobar with Pct. 4 said that at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, a 50-year-old man was walking out of a Carter’s Country Shooting Facility in the 6200 block of Treaschwig Road when he noticed a 21-year-old man was in his van.
It was unclear whether the man was trying to steal something out of the van or to steal the vehicle itself, Escobar said. The 50-year-old tried to fight the 21-year-old, who eventually ran off. A bystander who saw the altercation then chased down the suspect and allegedly stabbed him in the chest claiming self-defense, Escobar said. The situation only escalated from there.
Escobar said the bystander was then blindsided by one of the 21-year-old’s three alleged accomplices, who pistol-whipped him in the head.
When more people from the store saw what was happening, they jumped in to hold down the suspects, which included three men and one woman. All four suspects are in their early 20s, and have been charged.
As for the 21-year-old man, he was taken to Ben Taub Hospital. His injuries are serious, but not life-threatening.
