HOUSTON – Investigators with the Houston Police Department raided more than a dozen game rooms Friday night in southeast Houston.
The raids took place simultaneously with a total of seven people being taken into custody. The sting was the result of a money laundering investigation involving illegal gambling.
Police with HPD’s Vice Division said officers were able to infiltrate the game rooms and receive illegal payouts.
Two years ago, a similar investigation netted more than $1 million and nearly 300 gambling machines. The total amount of cash confiscated has not been released.
