HOUSTON – A teenager died Saturday night after he was accidentally shot in the head with a friend’s handgun in southeast Houston, police said.

According to the Houston Police Department, it happened at 9:05 p.m. at a home near Panay and Selinsky.

It started when Corbin George’s 18-year-old male friend came by his house, police said. The two of them and a teenage female were visiting, when the 18-year-old told the others he had bought a gun.

Investigators said they do not know where he bought the gun from.

The teen went out to his car and retrieved the gun he recently bought and went inside and was showing it off to 17-year-old George, police said.

At some point, as George was playing with the gun or when they were handing it off, the gun went off, police said. The bullet hit the George under the chin area and exited through the top of his head.

He was transported to Ben Taub Hospital where he later died.

The case is being referred to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office for any possible charges.
