HOUSTON—A domestic disturbance in east Houston ended with a mother shot and her son dead early Friday morning.

Police said it happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 5300 block of Coke Street.

According to investigators, the mom and her son were in their apartment with two other family members when an argument started.

At some point, one or more people pulled out guns and started shooting.

The mother was hit in the buttocks, and the son was shot in the chest.

Both were taken to Ben Taub, where the son died in surgery.

Detectives were still at the scene hours later, trying to sort out exactly what happened.

They said they don’t yet know who in the apartment was responsible for the shootings.
