HOUSTON — Family members and investigators are looking for answers in the murder of a 56-year-old father and grandfather.

According to the Houston Police Department, Pedro Diaz was shot and killed Friday night near the corner of Mill Stream Lane and Imperial Valley Drive in north Houston.

His body was found outside his parked mini-van.

Witnesses heard an argument, then gun fire and then saw two men running from the scene.

Diaz worked as a Metro bus driver and operated his own snow cone stand.

“If this was your parent you’d want somebody to tell you what happened and why,” said Diaz’s daughter, Paula Diaz. “I just hope that if anybody saw something, heard something, they’ll come forward.”

Family members believe Diaz left his snow cone stand early for some reason.

He was shot a few blocks away.

They don’t know why he got out of the vehicle or why he was targeted.

Relatives said Diaz volunteered to help local youth soccer teams and an elementary school, he was well known in the community.

“I want justice,” said Diaz’s daughter. “He didn’t deserve this.”
