HOUSTON – A chase suspect led officers to a north Houston apartment complex where he ditched his mom’s car and ran away on foot, police said late Tuesday.

The chase came to an end around 11:15 p.m. at the Huntington Green apartments on Kuykendahl Road at Stonefield Drive.

Police said officers tried to stop the driver of a dark colored Chevrolet Malibu for a traffic violation when he refused to pull over. At one point, he allegedly drove the wrong way on Kuykendahl.

Eventually the driver hit a curb and blew a tire. He then jumped out and ran away after pulling into an apartment complex, police said. When police ran the vehicle’s plate number, they discovered it was registered to an owner at the complex.

Police interviewed the car's owner, who said her son was the one driving the car. She said she didn’t know where he was.

HPD said the man, whose age was not released, was on probation and that may have been the reason he refused to pull over.
