KATY, Texas – Harris County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a gunman in connection with a shooting that left one man dead Monday afternoon in west Harris County.
Detectives said the suspects walked up to the victim, who is in his 20s, and shot him once in the head Monday afternoon in the 6800 block of Carmel Valley Drive near Bushmeade Lane.
Officials said they do not have a motive, but the shooting has neighbors on alert.
Two elementary schools, Hemingway and Walker, and Hopper Middle School went into “secure building” mode due the police activity nearby.
The suspect is described as a black man in his late teens with a medium build wearing a gray hoodie.
Officials would not say if the shooting is gang-related.
