HOUSTON – One man is dead and his mother is in the hospital after a suspected drunk driver slammed into their car early Sunday in northeast Harris County, deputies said.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, a Chevrolet Tail Blazer was heading west on FM 1960 when it ran a red light at West Lake Houston Parkway and slammed into the side of red Corvette around 12:15 a.m.

The driver in the Corvette, Omar Jaramillo, died at the scene, while his mother Irene Jaramillo, a passenger in the car, was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, deputies said.
