HOUSTON – The suspect believed to be responsible for a string of robberies on the northwest and southwest sides of town has been identified and is finally off the streets, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said in the most recent case on Aug. 13, he pointed a gun at a mom in front her kids while demanding cash. It happened as the mother and her children got into the family’s vehicle at a shopping center on Long Point Road in northwest Houston.

At a Zales outlet store on Hempstead Road and at a jewelry store in West Oaks Mall, pinvestigators said Porter demanded money from the cash registers at gunpoint. He also stole several gold and diamond rings before fleeing.
