HOUSTON – A man who was lured to a motel room by a woman survived after being shot in the back of the head during a robbery, according to Harris County Sheriff’s deputies.
Shannon Earl Parker, 36, was charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.
The victim met a woman, known only as “Candy” at a Palace Inn on Westheimer on September 28, 2012.
The victim said Candy was getting out of the shower when there was a knock at the door. She went to open it, allowing Parker and another man inside.
Parker and the second suspect attacked the man, hitting him in the head and knocking him to the floor. After they robbed him, Parker shot the man in the head at point blank range, investigators said.
The woman drove off in the victim’s 2003 Saturn, which was later found burned in a nearby apartment complex.
Investigators subpoenaed the victim’s phone records and pinpointed a specific number that called in several times before the setup. They traced that number back to Parker, who fit the description given by the victim.
The victim was able to identify Parker from a photo lineup and charges were filed.
